• Description: This fabric is a reproduction of an 18th century design toile that commemorates the first hot air balloon flight by the French brothers, Joseph-Michel and Jacques-Étienne Montgolfier. The Montgolfiers were paper manufacturers who developed a hot air balloon made of paper and silk and demonstrated it publicly on September 19, 1783. The flight lasted 10 minutes. (After experimenting with unmanned balloons and flights with animals, the first balloon flight with humans aboard was a month later.) This is new unused old stock that has been stored in a climate controlled warehouse.
